The more tickets sold the bigger the take home prize. The proceeds generated are used in several ways. Vouchers for game tickets are distributed to various community youth organizations and schools and to other qualified organizations such as those with charitable status.
“Through the Rotary Club contributions more youth in the area are able to attend Bombers games. The donations also encourage families to come and enjoy a safe, fun evening cheering for “Our Team” in “Our Town,”” says Andreas Kottschoth, Rotary Club President.
The Rotary Club together with the Bombers donate to numerous organizations as part of the special games held throughout the season. Last season a donation was given to the 270 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron from the proceeds of the 50/50 and Bombers’ activities at the Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation Game. Similar donations were given to the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Foundation for cancer care and mental health as part of the Hockey Pucks Cancer and Mental Health Awareness Games. The planned special games this season will be End Domestic Violence, November 23, 2025, and Mental Health Awareness, January 31, 2026.
“The government regulations around lotteries do limit who can receive the funds raised. We do our best to seek out recipients that are qualified and can benefit from having hockey tickets available,” says Rotary Club Treasurer, Susan Barclay.
“The Bombers organization greatly appreciates the time and effort the of the Rotary Club in making the 50/50 draw such a success,” says Joe Cassidy President of the Bombers. “The partnership we have with the Rotary Club has contributed to the success of the Bombers team. We look forward to working with the Rotary Club during the 2025-2026 season to bring another exciting year of great hockey to Sioux Lookout.”

In the last couple of years, the Rotary Club partnered with the Sioux Lookout Bombers Junior A team to operate the 50/50 draws at their home games. Proceeds from the 50/50 go to local youth and family-focused projects.
