The Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout proudly supported the Global Engineering Brigades, a chapter of the University of Manitoba, where students work alongside local communities and technicians to implement clean water systems in the developing world.

The engineering students travelled to Honduras from February 14-23, 2025, where they collaborated with the non-profit Global Brigades and the rural community of El Jicaro. The community members of El Jicaro have never had access to infrastructure to deliver water to their homes. Instead, many walk long distances to perform daily tasks like laundry and rely on weekly trips to purchase drinking water. The team was privileged to have such a motivated and vibrant community that accepted their help in designing their water system.  (https://fundraise.globalbrigades.org/empowered/chapter/university-of-manitoba-engineering-chapter)
