On Thursday, December 10, our club had the pleasure of welcoming Trish Hancharuk as the meeting’s program. Trish, who happens to be a former Rotary Exchange student to Brazil, now works for the Sioux Lookout Firsts Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) as the Program Manager for the Regional Wellness Response Program (RWRP).
Trish gave a very informative presentation on the Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority's RWRP: a multi-discipline approach, offering services to tackle opioid addiction and related harms
(blood-borne infections such as hepatitis C, HCV) through the Community Wellness Development Team, HCV Support and Treatment Service and Needle Distribution Service. The RWRP works with 33 First Nations communities in the SLFNHA service area, most remote communities, to build capacity to develop community-driven responses to tackle the priority issues of opioid addiction and related harms and improve health for present and future generations.
The HCV Support and Treatment Service is one of the services that is available for First Nations and Non-First Nations who reside either in Sioux Lookout/surrounding area or reside in the 33 First Nations communities served by SLFNHA. It supports those at risk, having, or affected by HCV. To learn more see more detail on the other services see www.slfnha.com or contact Trish at 807.737.6188 - Trish.Hancharuk@slfnha.com
